Self-Care Tips for Busy People

Self-Care Tips for Busy People

For most, 24 hours a day just doesn’t seem to be enough. Juggling everything can sometimes suck the energy out of you. Work, family, friends, side hustles, filing taxes, grocery shopping, home chores… the list can go on and on. When every day has receded to routine busyness, recognise that it is time to regain your sanity with some self-care rituals. To prevent or recover from burnout, use the following top tips:

  1. Say no

It’s with the best intentions we agree to take on more than we can handle. But when we have clarity on what is most essential in our lives, saying no to the excess becomes a lot easier. And if you find saying no to others difficult, just remember how when you’re on an airplane in an emergency situation, you need to put on your oxygen mask first before you can help others. Taking care of your needs before you can even begin to be valuable to other people is what you need to do first and foremost.

  1. Change your environment

Sometimes, just a change in scenery in your everyday life can leave you feeling refreshed. Consider driving a different route to or from the office. You can also choose to meet clients and colleagues at new and different cafés or restaurants around town.

  1. Give yourself a face massage

Instead of rushing through washing your face at night, relish that skincare routine. Try thinking of those few minutes of finger-to-face contact as an opportunity for a mini massage and chance to unwind from the day as you swipe on a royal serum, or pause to inhale the scent of a lemon cleanser.

  1. Breathe the right scents

Speaking of scents, engage in some aromatherapy as an easy way to reduce stress, increase focus, enhance memory and uplift mood. You know what they say: When life gives you lemons, breathe in the citrusy scent and it’ll help slash stress and anxiety. But of course, scent is highly subjective. A soothing smell for one person might be aggravating for another. Thus, it’s important to find your favourite aromas. Having them on hand, whether it’s through candles, infusers or bottles of essential oils, can then help you create an environment that instantly calms you down and cheers you up.

  1. Reward yourself

Rewarding yourself after completing a major project will motivate you to keep working. You can either treat yourself to a self-purchased present or leave it up to us and we’ll send you a multitude of self-care treats each month!
